Volunteer for WGBH’s 5k Road Race

This year WGBH introduces its very own 5K road race, A Run for Public Media, on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at DCR Artesani Park in Brighton.

WGBH is looking for Medford students to volunteer for this fun-filled community event. Volunteers may register for a variety of roles, ranging from registering athletes and distributing information to providing course-side refreshments at water and food stations.

Take a look at the volunteer position descriptions listed below and email Jaime at jaime_reese@wgbh.org with your top three choices.

Volunteer Position Descriptions and Shift Times:

  • Food Station Volunteer, 9:30am-2pm: Hand out drinks and food to runners as they finish the race, congratulate them!
  • Arrow Holder/Energetic WGBH 5K Ambassador Volunteers, 10am-1pmHold arrows signs to guide runners along the course, cheer on and encourage runners
  • Running Pep Squad Volunteer, 9:30am-1pmKeep up high energy to encourage runners along the course, cheer
  • Water Station Volunteer, 9:30am-1pm: Hand out water at each mile marker on the course (a great team-building opportunity for groups, too!)

Volunteers are critical to providing a safe, well-organized event. Plus volunteering during A Run for Public Media is a great way to fulfill your community service requirement!
